Fishing Mouse Pad
Taking Care of Baby Field Mice?
So my cat killed this mouse about 3 days ago. My brother just this morning found 2 baby mice in a baking pan in the oven drawer. They are about a week old I think, their eyes are closed still and they have really short, black fur but they’re mostly pink. In other words, they are newborn mice without a mom (we think the one my cat killed was the mother).
I put them in a glass fish tank with a heating pad on one side with a towel over it and a little nest of cotton balls (their original nest was gross, full of poop, etc). We have been giving them stale popcorn and milk but stopped when I read that cow milk is bad for them. My question is how do we take care of them? I’ve been trying to keep them warm but I really don’t think they will survive. I’d like for them to if possible. Does anybody have any suggestions, how to keep them warm, what to feed them, keep them safe, etc.? Thanks! The mice and I will appreciate it.
ok well i have a pdf and some tips:
maybe you could find some milk not from cows and see if that is ok for them. also give them cheese because that has milk in it and that is ok for them. talk about this with a petco worker. when the mice are grown and have fur, put them in a medium sized aquarium (the time when they start to play in the fish tank) so at that time put them in with fresh, Carefresh bedding and mouse and rat food, get a water bottle that can go in an aquarium(do not house them in a regular wire cage or else they will totally escape) i have something else that will help to:
for when they are just babies crush up the food to make it easier for them to eat. (not when older though)
if you go to a local petco they will have a water bottle hanger for hanging in aquariums.
